Iñigo Capellán Pérez (Valladolid, 1986) is Industrial Engineer specialized in Energy with double diploma from University of Valladolid (Spain) and Arts-et-Métiers (ENSAM, France). He completed a Research Master in “Electrcial Energy and Sustainable Development” in ENSAM-Lille (France).
Since 2010 he has been developing and applying dynamic energy-economy-environment models in the University of Valladolid (i.e. WoLiM). In 2016 he completed a PhD in Economics with the dissertation “Development and Application of Environmental Assessment Modelling Towards Sustainability” in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). His research interests focus on the analysis and modeling of the energy-economy-environment systems, the transition to renewable energies in the context of the depletion of fossil fuels and climate mitigation and the technical and social transformations towards sustainability.
From 2016 he works as model developer in the H21020 project MEDEAS, which has the aim to provide policy makers and stakeholders with a new tool to better assess the impacts and limitations of the EU energy production/consumption system transition to a low-carbon sustainable socio-economy. This tool will integrate energy, raw materials, supply and socioeconomic behavior in an energy systems simulation model.
